The Department of National Parks, Wildlife, and Plant Conservation has announced the closure of Chiang Dao Wildlife Sanctuary from March 1 to May 15, 2025, to prevent forest fires and protect wildlife.

A resort and elephant centre in the Chiang Dao district of Chiang Mai province is offering unique shows of elephants ploughing paddy fields in the hope of luring more tourists.
